Christine Lewis

Educator, Betty M. Condra School of Education Innovation

Christine Lewis grew up in a military family and moved throughout her childhood. Her family life was full of struggles, which included the abuse of alcohol. At 17, Christine left home, and within one year, was married. Christine enrolled at West Texas State University (WTSU) and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She continued her education at Texas Tech University (TTU)and earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education. She continued her education, specializing in dyslexia, and served the Lubbock-Cooper School District for ten years. She started the district’s dyslexia program, which has improved the lives of thousands of students and families. After a few years of retirement, which included caring for her husband of 43 years before his passing, Christine began a new chapter in service to the special education community in Lubbock. She is teaching reading at the Betty M. Condra School of Education. 

 

Christine is active in the Llano Estacado Emmaus Community, Kairos Outside, and is a member of the Care Team at New Legacy Home for women. Her faith leads her life, and she has a deep respect and care of all, wherever they are on their faith journey.
